As we say goodbye to a year, we get an opportunity to reflect on the good times, experiences, opportunities, hardships, and challenges we may have encountered during that year.
Now, we start a new year, and we have a new book with 365 blank pages, waiting for us to fill them with our stories. It’s our choice to either create a new story or continue with the old one.
Often we believe that a new year or a new day is required to start over. However, sometimes all we need is a new mindset and fewer materialistic expectations. Research has shown that life experiences often bring more happiness since they are less associated with regret, unlike material possessions which often lead to negative emotions.
It’s important to simplify one’s life and remain positive in a very stressful world. Improve your well-being by practicing kindness, gratitude, mindfulness, and cherishing small pleasures in life. We don’t need to complicate things.
Life is full of storms but they don’t last forever. Sometimes, to move forward, we need to face the sun and leave the shadows behind, taking things day by day and step by step at our own pace.
Why not start the new year by filling an empty jar with notes about all the GOOD things that happen and empty it on the last day of the year? No doubt, you will be pleasantly surprised by the amazing moments you experienced.
Sometimes, changing one’s mindset leads to incredible results in attitude and behaviour. Instead of focusing on New Year’s resolutions, try shifting your attention to gratitude.
“May this new year be fabulous in every possible way. Now write your story!”
