Lavender (Lavandula Hybrida) features a strong herbaceous, camphor-like scent softened by a subtle sweet floral note. This plant is a natural hybrid created through the cross-pollination of two lavender species. Its botanical name is Lavandula Hybrida, and it is often referred to as Lavandin or Lavandula x intermedia—the “x” signifying its hybrid origin.

Lavandula Hybrida is more commercially popular than Lavandula Angustifolia, largely because it is more cost-effective to produce. The plant is larger, easier to cultivate, and bears bigger flowers, resulting in a significantly higher essential oil yield and a more intense fragrance.

Thanks to its bold scent profile, affordability, and aromatic similarity to Lavandula Angustifolia, Lavandula Hybrida oil is widely used across many industries. It is commonly found in personal care products and household cleaners. Its strong deodorizing aroma makes it a popular ingredient in soaps, shower gels, shampoos, cleaning sprays, and candles.

While Lavandula Hybrida offers excellent aromatic benefits, it is generally recommended for fragrance use rather than therapeutic applications. Its higher levels of stimulating components, such as Cineole, make it less gentle and less versatile than Lavandula Angustifolia, and may counteract calming effects often associated with lavender.

Dilution Guidelines:

• Long-term use: Dilute to 1% — approximately 3 drops of essential oil per 10 ml of carrier oil.

• Short-term use: Dilute to 5% — approximately 10–15 drops of essential oil per 10 ml of carrier oil.
